The Project
The exhibition path design for the exhibition 1 8 0 8, 1 8 1 8: A Construção do Reino do Brasil was developed through a cadence of actions: Open, navigate, weave, build, tread, draw, acclaim.
Actions that synthesize and lead the public through the sequence of events that mark and rhythm the exhibition set at the Cultural Space from the National Library.
Original works, transposing and projections, as well as rare images, have been harmoniously articulated throughout the route, starting at the entrance, through the visitor’s immersion into the universe of books and documents about this important moment in the country’s history: Brazil’s opening to the world.
As a cut in everyday time, the visitor was led to inhabit distinct daily lives from an exuberant past as they embarked on a time travel through atmospheres that would activate their senses. Set design elements, soundscapes, and different smells amplified the visual experience and transformed the visitor into a character.
More than just an exhibition, 1 8 0 8, 1 8 1 8: A Construção do Reino do Brasil was an experience.
