Vesúvio Show | National and International Tour

Djavan

2019-2020

The Project

The show begins with a gray curtain that works as the place of neutral, simplicity, the beginning of everything. In this gray curtain, there will be the incidence of lights.

This curtain opens and a large panel in Voronoi abstract texture invades the stage. This Voronoi texture is the beginning of nature’s organic structures. The foundation for all textures and shapes of nature. This almost-abstract geometry has been treated like a stained glass window in a church or chapel. This set was totally inspired by a chat on a rainy afternoon at Djavan’s house, where he introduced me to the chapel he built at his house in the mountains. He emphasized the entire process of creating stained glass variations and colors. There it popped in my mind how they worked as light filters that invaded the chapel space and create a very special atmosphere.

I have done several color composition tests that made it possible for the panel to pulsate with light effects throughout the concert. The basis for the colors I found is favorable to the interaction with light and this also inspired Binho when specifying the equipment.

The set will feature a punctual event during the song Vesúvio. The stage will be invaded by a 13m long gold wave that will swing up to 6m high. It will be a mechanical effect that will operate with lightness and spontaneously. It will be an ecstatic moment for the set, superfluid and magical. The intention is to thrill. It is a bold scene move, specific to one song only.

The expectation is that it is going to be an extremely significant and unforgettable moment of the concert.

After the gold wave, the stage’s background will light up in several long and narrow particles of light. I have created a concentric design in which programmable led tapes were installed so that the set dances along with the songs. As throughout the concert, it will be a beautiful combination of set design and lighting, creating a special and unique atmosphere to frame the Vesúvio concert.

The set presents a healthy and extremely positive balance between craftsmanship and technology. The mechanics of the physically present wave and the state-of-the-art programmable LED technology.

By the end of the show, the set ends with the artist, vibrant, pulsating and full of energy.
